IQ: was it installed as intended?
Installation Qualification records evidence that equipment, software or a system was installed according to approved specifications. Depending on context, it may cover components, utilities, manuals, drawings, calibration status and configuration. A complete-looking heading is not enough; qualified personnel must evaluate traceability, deviations and acceptance criteria under the approved plan.
OQ: does it operate across defined conditions?
Operational Qualification challenges functions, controls, alarms and operating ranges defined in the protocol. Testing should follow approved procedures with attributable results and resolved deviations. PDF Guard can look for an OQ section, test labels or expected record fields in readable text. It cannot decide whether a test design is scientifically sound or whether the system passed.
PQ: does it perform in intended use?
Performance Qualification gathers evidence that the system or process performs effectively under intended or routine conditions. Inputs, operators, loads and durations vary by process and risk. The relationship between PQ, process validation and continued verification is organisation-specific. A local document check can prepare a section review but does not replace validation judgement.
Why the order can be misleading
IQ, OQ and PQ are often presented as a simple sequence, but real projects can involve commissioning, supplier testing, risk assessment, integrated testing and staged release. Some evidence may be leveraged when justified. Always follow the approved validation plan and applicable procedures rather than assuming a universal template.
Review qualification documents responsibly
Start with the controlled checklist, extract or OCR the text, locate expected sections, and inspect every critical result in the source. Verify identifiers, versions, approvals and deviations manually. PDF Guard keeps this preparation step in the browser and explains the abbreviations, but it neither validates the system nor determines regulatory compliance.
