PRIVACY POLICY

Your files stay on your device.

This policy explains how the globally available InYourTab.com browser utilities handle files and limited usage data. Effective 30 August 2026.

Files stay on your device

When you select a file, your browser gives the current tab temporary access. The tools process PDF, image, DOCX, PPTX, ODT, spreadsheet, text, audio and video data with browser APIs and software files served from InYourTab.com. Selected file contents are not uploaded to InYourTab.com, a Vercel Function, PostHog, the operational metrics database, cloud storage or a file-processing API.

Outputs are created in browser memory and downloaded only when you instruct the browser to save them. Closing or refreshing the tab releases the working session. InYourTab.com does not create a cloud copy or recovery copy of your files.

Text and calculator inputs

Text entered into document, developer, calculator and timer tools is processed in the open tab. It is not included in analytics events or sent to an InYourTab.com processing server. Avoid putting confidential data in a page URL because URLs are part of ordinary web requests; InYourTab.com does not require working file content in URLs.

No public accounts, payments or file storage

The public tools have no user-account system, subscription, payment checkout, newsletter or cloud-file workspace. They do not ask for a name, email address, telephone number or payment details. A separate operator-only metrics page uses a restricted administrative session cookie and is not part of the public tool experience.

Device storage and offline assets

The site may use browser local storage for recently opened tool identifiers, tool-use counts and the analytics preference. A service worker may cache public application code, icons, pages and bundled libraries so tools can reopen reliably. User-selected files and generated file contents are not placed in local storage or that application cache.

While a tab remains open, a bounded in-memory retry queue may briefly hold anonymous operational events that could not be delivered. It contains only a random event identifier, event type, tool identifier, broad file group, file count, byte totals, safe failure category and timestamp. It does not contain filenames, file contents, document text, calculator values, local paths, names or email addresses, and it disappears when the tab closes.

Hosting and security data

InYourTab.com is hosted by Vercel. Like other web hosts, Vercel necessarily receives request information such as the requested host and path, time, IP address, user agent and HTTP headers to deliver and protect the site. Vercel may process security, diagnostic and infrastructure logs under its own service terms. The file bytes selected inside a tool are not included in those hosting requests.

Anonymous operational metrics

When a tool is opened, a file is selected, processing completes, a download is requested or processing fails, the site may send a small event summary to a same-origin metrics API hosted on Vercel and store it in a Neon-hosted Postgres database. The summary may contain the tool identifier, broad file group such as PDF or IMAGE, number of files, aggregate byte totals, timestamp and a safe failure category such as invalid-file.

The application metrics table does not store a selected file, filename, document contents, text entered into a tool, local path, name, email address, account identifier or request IP address. Vercel may still process ordinary request metadata at the infrastructure layer as described above. The password-protected operator dashboard displays aggregated operational totals. These events follow the analytics opt-out below.

Anonymous website analytics

The public website uses Vercel Web Analytics, the anonymous same-origin operational metrics described above, and PostHog product analytics. Measurements may include the page path, timestamp, referring site origin, approximate country or region, device type, operating system and browser. Network providers necessarily receive an IP address while handling a request, but InYourTab.com does not add it to its custom analytics properties.

PostHog receives only approved anonymous events such as site opened, tool menu opened, tool category opened, tool opened, file selected, processing started, processing completed, processing failed, download clicked and related tool clicked. File events contain only a tool identifier, broad file type, approximate size bucket, rounded processing duration, output-size bucket or safe failure code where applicable. Tool-search events contain a result count but never the search text.

Analytics do not receive file contents, filenames, document text, image, video or audio contents, exact local paths, calculator values, names, email addresses, passwords, user search text or raw sensitive errors from InYourTab.com. PostHog autocapture and session replay are disabled, its browser identifier is kept in memory rather than a cookie or persistent browser store, custom properties pass through a strict allowlist, and page URLs and referrers have query strings and fragments removed before delivery. The site also sends only the origin portion of HTTP referrers.

The PostHog client respects the browser’s Do Not Track setting. The analytics choice below is stored on this device and, when disabled, prevents new PostHog and same-origin operational events. Analytics failures do not block a tool.

Vercel Web Analytics does not use third-party cookies and derives a temporary visitor identifier from request information for aggregated measurement. Vercel states that the underlying hash is discarded after 24 hours. Read Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy documentation for current technical details.

Third-party services

The current release uses Vercel for hosting, serverless metrics endpoints and Web Analytics; PostHog for restricted anonymous product analytics; and Neon Postgres for sanitized operational-event storage. Open-source processing libraries and OCR assets are served from InYourTab.com itself rather than a third-party CDN. There is no advertising network, behavioural-advertising profile, payment gateway or cloud-file provider.

Cookies

The public tool and analytics experience does not set an InYourTab.com user-account, payment or advertising cookie. Vercel Web Analytics is cookie-free, and PostHog is configured without cookie or persistent-identifier storage. The private operator dashboard sets one Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict administrative session cookie limited to its API path. Browser local storage and Cache Storage are described separately above because they are not cookies.

Your choices and requests

You can disable optional analytics with the control above, enable Do Not Track in a supported browser, clear this site’s local storage/cache, or simply use the tools while offline after required assets have loaded. For a privacy question or data request, email privacy@inyourtab.com. Because the public tools have no user accounts and custom events contain no direct contact identifier, the operator may have no way to link an anonymous event to a particular visitor.

Children and sensitive information

The site is a general utility and is not designed to collect personal information from children. Do not send personal or sensitive information by email unless it is necessary for the request, and never email a file that you only want to process locally.

Global availability and legal scope

The site can be reached from many countries. This policy describes the current technical practices; it does not claim certification or compliance with every law in every jurisdiction. Rights may differ by location. Contact the operator at the address above for a request that applies under your local law.

Document limitations

Searchable-text extraction reads text already stored in supported documents, while the separate OCR tool can recognize English text from scanned PDF pages locally. Password-protected PDFs and legacy .doc files are not supported. Keep originals and verify important outputs.

Policy changes

Material changes to file processing, analytics, advertising or data collection will be described here before or when the changed feature is made public. The effective date above will be updated.
